New Work: ATD Summer Sale

One of my big projects over the past few summers has been the ATD Summer Sale. This project is massive in scope, with hundreds of iterations used across social media, web, and the occasional print piece.

I used stock vectors, which I recolored and customized to look like stickers or “colorforms.” From the altered stock images, I created a library of eight diverse characters, with four different poses each, as well as summer-themed background images.

Placing the colorforms top of a background, with a slight drop shadow (something I generally avoid at all costs) made the figures to appear that they had been “stuck on.” This method also allowed for layouts to be quickly created, without needing to worry about proportions of the figures in relation to their background.

I don’t usually design this whimsically, but in this case, I think it worked.
